West Drayton, Middlesex

West Drayton lies to the west of London and is in the London Borough of Hillingdon which, of course, forms part of ‘Outer London’. The two places which immediately come to mind are Heathrow Airport and Brunel University named after the famous British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel. The town, therefore, has a high number of students amongst its residents.



The railway link to the London Paddington and West Country main line, as well as the Grand Union Canal, both run through West Drayton and have in the past provided employment. Nowadays with the motorways and Heathrow Airport nearby providing employment opportunities it is not surprising that these are no longer the main employers.

The RAF West Drayton military air traffic control centre is located here and provides a link between civil and military operations controlling the airspace.
